   Each nail technician must hold a Nail Technologist licence from the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology within the Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation. Eligibility under 32 MRSA section 14229 requires either 200 hours of instruction in nail technology in not less than 5 weeks at a licensed school, or 400 hours as a trainee over at least 10 weeks, plus passing the approved examination.
