   Real estate salespersons in Alaska are licensed by the Alaska Real Estate Commission at DCCED CBPL (907-269-8160). Applicants must complete 40 hours of pre-licensing education (the completion certificate is valid only 18 months), pass the licensing examination, and be affiliated with a licensed broker. Within one year of initial licensure, 30 hours of post-licensing education must be completed and reported on form 08-4326; 20 hours of continuing education is required to renew. Licenses run two years and expire January 31 of even-numbered years. Upgrading to broker requires 30 hours of broker upgrade education and a $120 transfer of license fee.

   Every business operating inside Fairbanks city limits needs a City Business License from the City Clerk’s Office (800 Cushman Street, 907-459-6702), in addition to the Alaska state business license. Each separate line of business needs its own license. Licenses expire the last day of January and renew by the last business day of February; the City will not issue a building permit to a business without a valid license.
