  1. Alaska Entity Registration — DCCED Corporations Section

Alaska has no Secretary of State and no counties, so all entity filings go to the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing (CBPL) in DCCED. An event planning business organized as an LLC files Articles of Organization (form 08-0484) and a corporation files Articles of Incorporation (form 08-0400), online or by PDF. A sole proprietor or partnership operating under a trade name instead files a Business Name Registration with CBPL. This entity filing is separate from — and in addition to — the $50/year Alaska Business License every business must hold.

    Official government source

$250 to file Articles of Organization (LLC) or Articles of Incorporation (corporation); $350 to register a foreign LLC. A biennial report is $100 for domestic entities ($200 foreign). A sole-proprietor Business Name (DBA) Registration is $25 for five years.1–7 business days for online filings; hardcopy filings take longer

3 stops
  1. City of Fairbanks Business License

Every business operating inside City of Fairbanks limits must hold a City Business License from the City Clerk's Office under Fairbanks General Code 14-601 to 14-604, in addition to the $50/year State of Alaska business license. Only the narrow list in FGC 14-604 is exempt. New licenses must be applied for on paper (email, fax, mail, or in person at 800 Cushman Street) with payment attached; since January 1, 2026 existing accounts can renew online. Licenses are valid for one calendar year only and cannot be bought for two years. Neither the Fairbanks North Star Borough nor North Pole operates this license — it is city-only. Short-term rental operators must also register as room rental taxpayers with the City Finance Department.

Tiered by prior-year gross receipts inside city limits, on a 12-step schedule: $50 for $0–$49,999, $120 for $50,000–$249,999, $350 for $250,000–$999,999, $580 for $1M–$2.99M, rising to $25,000 for $120M and above. A new license with no prior-year city receipts is $50. A convenience fee of up to 3.6% (minimum $2.50) applies to card payments; fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable, and failing to register carries a $50 civil penalty.1–2 weeks; renewals are due by the last business day of February
