The City of Houston requires an Automotive Repair Facility license from the Houston Permitting Center for all businesses providing automotive repair services. This is a unique city-level requirement specific to Houston. Apply online or in person at the Houston Permitting Center at 1002 Washington Ave.
Houston Certificate of Occupancy
Auto repair shops must also obtain a Certificate of Occupancy from the City of Houston for the commercial space. Houston does not have traditional zoning but uses 'Chapter 42' development regulations. Auto repair may be subject to deed restrictions in some areas.
Harris County Assumed Name Certificate (DBA)
