   HVAC contractors in Oklahoma must hold a Mechanical Contractor License from the Construction Industries Board. The applicant must meet the journeyman requirements plus one additional year of experience in the mechanical trade and pass the CIB examination. To activate the license, an active mechanical contractor must carry a $5,000 corporate surety bond and a certificate of insurance evidencing at least $50,000 in liability coverage with CIB as certificate holder. EPA Section 608 certification is separately required by federal rule for refrigerant handling.
