What is required is the general North Dakota Contractor's License from the Secretary of State, needed whenever the cost of a job exceeds $4,000 (NDCC ch. 43-07). The city states: "The City does not require business licenses for every type of commerce; however, the Fargo Municipal Code does require a City license for the businesses listed below."
