1. Hawaii Contractors License Board — Plumbing Contractor License (C-37)

   Plumbing contractors in Hawaii must hold a C-37 Plumbing Contractor license from the Hawaii Contractors License Board (DCCA/PVL) — C-42 is the roofing classification, and there is no separate "Hawaii Board of Plumbing" issuing contractor licenses. A qualifying individual (sole proprietor or responsible managing employee) with four years of supervisory experience must pass the Business & Law and trade examinations; individual journeyman and master plumber licenses come separately from the Board of Electricians and Plumbers.

3. Hawaii County Department of Public Works, Building Division — Plumbing Permit (per project)

   A plumbing permit is pulled for each job from the County of Hawaii Department of Public Works, Building Division — the Finance Department has no permitting role. Inspections are required as the work progresses and at completion. Permits must be pulled by a contractor holding the state C-37 plumbing classification from the Contractors License Board.
