   Real estate licences in Connecticut are issued by the Department of Consumer Protection with the Connecticut Real Estate Commission. A salesperson applicant must complete a 60-classroom-hour course in real estate principles and practices approved by the commission and pass the written examination. A broker applicant must have worked as a licensed salesperson under a supervising licensee for at least three years, including 1,500 hours in the business and at least four closed transactions in those three years, and must have completed the 60-hour principles course plus 15 hours in real estate legal compliance, 15 hours in brokerage principles and practices, and two 15-hour elective courses (the electives are waived after 20 closed transactions in five years). Both fees are set by CGS Sec. 20-314 and are far higher than a few hundred dollars.
