1. Colorado Real Estate Broker License

   Colorado has a single real estate license, the broker license - there is no separate salesperson license. A first-time applicant needs 168 hours of qualifying education (48 hours Real Estate Law and Practice, 48 hours Colorado Contracts and Regulations, 8 hours Trust Accounts and Recordkeeping, 8 hours Current Legal Issues, 24 hours Real Estate Closings, 32 hours Practical Applications), or a real-estate major from an accredited college; must pass both the national and state portions of the Colorado Real Estate Broker's Exam (results valid one year per portion); and must complete a fingerprint background check. Applicants with under two years of active broker experience are licensed at the associate broker (FA) credential level and work under a supervising employing broker; independent and employing levels each require two years of active broker experience, and the employing level adds a 24-hour brokerage administration course. Errors and omissions insurance is required to hold an active license.
