No Madison or Dane County Kennel or Animal-Boarding License
There is no kennel or animal-boarding license for a pet sitter in Madison or Dane County. Boarding is not on the City Clerk's list of licensed business activities and Dane County Zoning issues no animal-business permit; the state's DATCP animal licensing covers dog sellers, animal shelters, animal dealers, truckers and markets, not ordinary pet sitting or boarding. Madison's zoning code does cap the number of animals kept at a residence, so check the limit for your district before boarding pets at home.
