Las Vegas / Clark County Requirements

Required for photography businesses operating within Las Vegas city limits. Includes portrait photographers, event photographers, and commercial photographers. Apply through the City of Las Vegas Department of Planning. If operating from a home studio in Las Vegas, a Home Occupation Permit may also be required.
Clark County Business License (if operating in unincorporated areas)
Required for photographers based in or primarily shooting in unincorporated Clark County. Many event venues, wedding locations, and commercial studios are in unincorporated Clark County.
City of Las Vegas Film/Photography Permit (for public locations)
Required for commercial photography shoots in Las Vegas city parks, rights-of-way, and public spaces. The City of Las Vegas Office of Special Events issues film and photography permits. The Las Vegas Strip (Clark County) requires a separate Clark County permit. Fees vary by location, crew size, and duration.

Register your photography business through Nevada's SilverFlume portal. An LLC protects personal assets from client contract disputes and property damage claims during shoots. Nevada has no state income tax. Most photographers also need a state sales tax permit if selling prints or digital files.
Nevada Sales Tax Permit (for selling prints and products)
If you sell physical prints, albums, wall art, or taxable digital products, you must register with the Nevada Department of Taxation to collect and remit sales tax. Photography services (session fees) may be exempt, but product sales are generally taxable. Clark County combined sales tax rate is approximately 8.375%.
Federal Requirements
