Auto repair shops operating within Las Vegas city limits must obtain a Business License from the City of Las Vegas Department of Planning. An Automotive Garage (Major) license is required for full-service repair. Apply through the city's online licensing portal. Note: businesses unincorporated Clark County use a different process.
Clark County Business License
If operating in unincorporated Clark County (outside Las Vegas city limits), a Clark County Business License is required from the Clark County Business License Division. Clark County Regulated Business licenses apply to auto repair shops.
Nevada DMV Repair Garage License
Under Nevada state law, the DMV regulates the auto repair industry. Repair garages must be licensed by the Nevada DMV's Occupational and Business Licensing (OBL) division. Auto repair shops pay an annual registration fee of $26 for a repair garage license; auto body shops pay $301/year.
