   Each barber must hold a Kansas barber license from the Kansas Board of Barbering, the agency that has regulated the trade since 1913 (K.S.A. 65-1808 et seq.). Kansas requires no less than 1,200 and no more than 1,500 hours of barber school, then passing the board's examination. A licensed Kansas cosmetologist, or a barber from the armed services, can qualify by completing 500 additional hours at a licensed Kansas barber school before applying to test.
