   Alaska's Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing does not license plumbers. Work subject to the Alaska Plumbing Code (AS 18.60.705) requires a Certificate of Fitness from the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Labor Standards and Safety Division, Mechanical Inspection Section. Plumber Journeyman requires 8,000 verified hours of experience (8 AAC 90.130 and 8 AAC 90.890); Plumber Restricted Gas requires 4,000 hours and Plumber Restricted Utility 1,000 hours. All applicants must pass the state test. Separately, a plumbing contracting business needs a Mechanical Contractor license from CBPL with an assigned Mechanical Administrator, and plumbing permits come from CBJ Community Development in Juneau.
