2. Alaska Specialty Contractor Registration — Landscaping (12 AAC 21.370)

   The Municipality of Anchorage has no municipal contractor registration; the requirement is at the state level. Landscaping Contractor is a listed specialty trade under 12 AAC 21.370 — grading, filling, and leveling ground; hauling fill, gravel, topsoil, and sand; constructing drainage systems, dewatering, and ponds; hydro-seeding; and installing grass, shrubs, trees, and ornamental plants — so a landscaping or irrigation business must register as a Specialty Contractor with DCCED CBPL under AS 08.18. A specialty contractor may use up to three trades; more requires a General or Residential Contractor license, and a job with an aggregate contract of $10,000 or less can instead use a Handyman Contractor license. Under AS 08.18.051(b), all advertising and contracts must show the contractor's registration name, mailing address, and principal place of business.
