1. Homemade (Cottage) Food — Alaska exemption plus Anchorage Cottage Food Permit

   Under Alaska’s homemade food rule (AS 17.20.332–17.20.338) food made in a home or leased kitchen may be sold with no state permit, inspection, or sales limit. However, the Municipality of Anchorage runs its own food-safety program and charges a Cottage Food Permit fee for home food producers inside the municipality. Packaged products must be labeled with the producer’s name, address, phone, and business license number plus the statement: "This food was made in a home kitchen, is not regulated or inspected, except for meat and meat products, and may contain allergens." A state business license is also required.

   The Municipality of Anchorage does not issue a general business license or business tax certificate. Nearly all businesses need only the Alaska state business license from DCCED/CBPL.
