   An Alaska electrical contractor must have a licensed Electrical Administrator, issued by the Division of Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing after the applicant scores at least 70 percent on the electrical administrator examination administered by PSI Services. The license is supervisory only and does not itself authorize performing electrical work; individual electricians hold Certificates of Fitness from the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Mechanical Inspection Section. Qualifying experience counts a year as 1,500 hours worked in a 12-month period (12 AAC 32.930). Licenses run two years and expire December 31 of odd-numbered years. All wiring work also requires permits from the local authority having jurisdiction — in Anchorage, the Development Services Department.
